a tall order

i just finished watching this presentation about 7 1/2 habits of lifelong learners from PLCMC. even though the presentation was painfully slow, it gives some good advice. now i am inspired to create a lifelong learning goal and i will share part of it with you, dear blog reader.

my learning contract:
i will write a swingin' 60s inspired song by december 31, 2009.

here is a list of some obstacles and how i might overcome them:
  1. i don't know how to write a song. i might read some how-to books for a place to start.
  2. i don't own any musical instruments. i might borrow one from a friend.
  3. i am a procrastinator. i might set aside time every week specifically to accomplish my goal.
things i need for my toolbox:
  • how-to books
  • friends to give me feedback
  • professional advice from real live rock 'n' rollers
  • 60s style inspiration from other songs, movies, fashion, etc
  • a way to record my song to share my masterpiece with the world
  • go-go boots?
if i need additional help, i can ask:
  • caitlin
  • allison
  • sarah
  • other rad girls who want to be in my band
i still need to figure out the detailed path to my goal.

Best. Blog. Ever. Do I call you snax or janglepop? May I suggest the use of some tambourine?
